How does Moorea Compare to other Tropical Destinations
Moorea: A Tropical Paradise Like No Other
When one thinks of tropical destinations, the first images that come to mind are likely those of crystal-clear waters, pristine beaches, and lush vegetation. And while many places can boast of these attributes, there’s one island that truly stands out from the rest: Moorea.
Moorea is in French Polynesia. It is often called the “sister island” of Tahiti, which is better known. But don’t let that fool you: Moorea is a destination that is every bit as unique and captivating as any other tropical paradise.
A unique natural beauty
One of the first things that will strike you upon arriving on Moorea is the island’s breathtaking natural beauty. There are many different kinds of landscapes and habitats on the island, from thick rainforests to sharp volcanic peaks.
The island is encircled by a barrier reef, which makes for some of the best snorkeling and diving in the world.
The waters around the island are so clear that you can see everything in them. There are lots of fish, sea turtles, and even sharks. You can swim with the reef sharks or simply enjoy the view from the shore.
But Moorea’s natural beauty is not limited to its marine life – the island is also home to a wide variety of plant and animal life. For example, you can take a hike to the island’s highest peak, Mount Rotui, for spectacular views of the island and the surrounding sea.
Plenty of Outdoor Activities
When it comes to outdoor activities, Moorea truly has something for everyone. Whether you’re an adrenaline junkie looking for an adventure, or a nature lover in search of some peace and quiet, this island has you covered.
For example, if you’re looking for an adrenaline rush, you can go shark diving or skydiving. But if you’re looking for something a little more laid-back, you can take a leisurely hike through the island’s lush rainforests, or rent a bicycle and
Cultural Experiences in Moorea
When most people think of tropical destinations, they don’t necessarily think of “culture.” But Moorea offers visitors the chance to experience the unique culture and customs of French Polynesia.
For example, visitors can witness traditional Polynesian dance performances, or even participate in dance themselves. Or, you can visit the island’s many maraes, which are traditional Polynesian meeting places. You can also learn about the history and culture of the island at the Polynesian Cultural Center.
If you want to learn about a new culture, you can also go to Tahiti, Samoa, or Fiji, but I can promise you that Moorea has its own special charm.
Accommodations in Moorea
Moorea has a wide range of places to stay, from expensive resorts to cheaper vacation rentals and camping. Luxury resorts like the InterContinental Moorea Resort & Spa have a lot to offer, like private beaches, infinity pools, gourmet dining, and spa treatments.
Vacation rentals, which range from traditional Polynesian-style bungalows to modern apartments, give visitors the chance to experience the island in a more authentic way and give them more freedom with their schedules.
And for budget-conscious travelers, camping is also an option in Moorea, which allows you to explore the island’s natural beauty in an affordable way.
Compared to other tropical destinations, Moorea offers a diverse range of accommodations and amenities.
Caribbean islands such as the Bahamas or Jamaica are known for their all-inclusive resorts, while places like Mexico and Seychelles have a good variety of luxury resorts, eco-friendly resorts, and vacation rentals. Moorea’s accommodations, on the other hand, are more varied and can offer high-end amenities, cheaper options, and a chance to learn about the local culture.
Things that made Moorea special to me
On a personal note, I have to say that I’m a big fan of Moorea. I’ve been lucky enough to visit this island paradise several times, and each time I’ve been struck by its beauty, its people, and the wide range of activities on offer.
One of the things I love most about Moorea is the sense of tranquility and peace that you feel as soon as you step off the plane. The island has a way of making you feel like you’ve left the hustle and bustle of the world behind and entered a place where time moves at a slower pace.
The island’s people are truly warm and welcoming, they make you feel like you’re a part of their community, and they’re happy to share their culture and customs with visitors. I have always felt at home when I’ve been on Moorea.
One of the most memorable things about Moorea for me was a guided tour of the island on a 4×4, where I got to see some of the more remote and beautiful parts of the island that most tourists never get to see.
The guide took us to a spot where we could see both sides of the island; it was breathtaking, and I highly recommend this tour.
I can not recommend a visit to the Moorea Lagoonarium. Before closure, it was a marine park located in the heart of the island. The park was home to a wide variety of marine life, including sharks, rays, and turtles, and offered visitors the chance to snorkel and swim with these incredible creatures. The Lagoonarium has permanently closed in May 2021.
Wrapping it up
All in all, I believe that Moorea is a tropical destination that is truly one of a kind, and I would recommend it to anyone looking for an unforgettable island getaway. It’s a place with something for everyone, and it will live on in your heart forever.
