Description
The Dolphin Center, which is located inside the Intercontinental Moorea Resort & Spa, is an educational center dedicated to better understanding these wonderful marine mammals and their ecology.
You’ll not only discover that dolphins can reach speeds of up to 18 miles per hour at sea and other amazing facts throughout your encounter, but you’ll also see their grace, agility, and friendliness as you interact with them in the waist-high waters of a quiet lagoon.
The number of participants in each group is limited to six, allowing for a more personalized encounter with your guide and plenty of opportunities to interact with the dolphin.
The Dolphin Center is a big, well-kept lagoon where tourists can participate in a typical dolphin encounter and interact with the dolphins as they perform tricks for the personnel. Many sea turtles have been brought in by residents due to damage or illness and are now housed at the Turtle Care Center.
The turtles are treated and given a safe place to dwell while they recuperate. The Center also offers 20-minute tours that teach about sea turtle’s life cycle and environment.
A visit to the Intercontinental Resort and Spa Moorea is one of the most rewarding things to do in Moorea if you’re searching for a fun, interactive experience.
Wear biodegradable sunscreen, and a swimsuit under your clothes, and bring a towel before boarding the coach. Jewelry and cameras are not permitted in the water for the safety of the dolphins, but an on-site photographer will capture a photo of your spectacular encounter for you to take home as a souvenir.

FAQ – Moorea Dolphin Center
When was the Moorea Dolphin Center founded?
The Dolphin Center has been providing educational and interactive programs with their dolphins for over 25 years in order to better understand and respect these amazing marine mammals. The programs have been meticulously established with the assistance and knowledge of local and international experts in order to respect the quality of life of our animals that are released into a natural enclosure. Their philosophy is to use interactive programs with dolphins to enhance public awareness.
What dolphins can I see at the Moorea Dolphin Center?
The Moorea Dolphin Center is home to bottlenose dolphins (Tursiops truncatus). Bottlenose dolphins can be found in temperate and tropical waters all throughout the planet, with the polar areas being the only exception. They are predominantly coastal species that live in shallow bays and estuarine settings, with rare forays into rivers lasting little more than a few days.
The bottlenose dolphin is a medium-sized dolphin with a strong body. The color on the dorsal side varies from light gray to black, with a light belly that is occasionally pink in color. The size ranges between 2 and 3.8 meters, with an average weight of 500 pounds.
Bottlenose dolphins have been reported to live for over 40 years, with females often outliving males. In the wild and in captivity, their average lifespan is 25/30 years.
Can I take pictures of the dolphins?
In the water, cameras are not permitted. Throughout your contact, a photographer takes photographs (which can be purchased after).
What should I know before visiting?
Visitors who want to buy gifts from the boutique should bring cash. Medical conditions must be mentioned and a waiver must be completed. Due to currents and sea-level fluctuations, the exact depth of the water cannot be confirmed. Participate at your own risk and assess your capacity to participate before making a reservation. Dolphins are wild animals, and the excursion is weather and animal behavior-dependent.
You should be aware that children from 10 to 14 must be accompanied by an adult and must wear a life jacket. Women who are pregnant are not permitted to participate.
